THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF TUMUSIIME ABEL
THE SAVING WORK OF CHRIST IN MY LIFE
The central philosophy of the Gospel is that Jesus Christ died on the cross in order to save me as a sinner. It is an instruction apprehended unanimously by all Christians across the World but to some individuals, it sounds useless and even seems idiotic, to those who don’t believe in Jesus. This is why Paul the Apostle argues in 1 Cor. 1:18-24 that;
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God….. (KJV)
Therefore, the saving work of Christ is to me who believe in Him, the idea that he died in order to bring about my salvation should not seem baffling or foolish. Indeed, i must be able to see both the “power of God and the wisdom of God” displayed in this act, and how this death results in my salvation for eternity.
Christ’s death and resurrection brought salvation unto my life as it’s well stated in the scripture;
“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.” (Mk 8:34-35). Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. (Gal. 5:24)
These very scriptures are a working tool in my real life: although Christ was the one who went on the cross; I have particularly participated in the crucifixion. God wants me to stop giving control of my live over to my sinful nature. He wants me to recognize that our sinful flesh is fit only for death and to see that am willing to give it up and walk in a new way prepared by His son.
MY CONVERSION EXPERIENCE
It was on 28th February, 2002 at 1:58pm during a lunch hour fellowship in Kampala city after being lured by a friend called Wafula Fredrick. My conversion was not one of the easiest to celebrate as my own parents had requested me to take Christ as my savior but only to keep a deaf ear. This prompted my mother to cause for a one week fasting and prayer at our local church by a group of women but still this did not work immediately until 8 years passed by. When I eventually accepted Jesus Christ as my savior, it’s when I got to hear such moving testimony on how people spent days and nights fasting and praying for my salvation.
On that fateful day of my conversion, during the lunch hour fellowship as Pastor Imelda Namutebi of Liberty Worship Center International was preaching and as she made an alter call at around 1:50pm, I heard a thing by then I did not know that it was the Holy Spirit telling me, “Abel today you either get saved or else you will die”. I looked here and there to see where my close friend Fredrick was seated but he was nowhere to be seen. The Pastor insisted for the alter call and no one that put up his/her hand save for Abel.
When there was no one to move to the pulpit, she later invited me to the pulpit and handed me the microphone and I said these words, “I want to put it categorically clear that today I have decided to take Jesus Christ as my savior”. Immediately after that confession, I heard some water like rain drops falling off from my body and I tried to look down to see if it was there but unfortunately I did not see any raindrops.
What overwhelmed me on that particular service which was fully packed to capacity, there was no any other person that got saved save for me alone! She eventually prayed for me and from that time my life never remained the same. Nevertheless, my journey to salvation ever since has never been easy but by His saving grace I have been able to sail through and reach where am today as Isaiah 43:1-4 says, “But now thus says the Lord that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name; you are mine…….”.

- MY PASTORAL CALLING/SERVICE VIS-À-VIS EDUCATION SUCCESS
- MY CURRENT SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE VIS-À-VIS MINISTRY
Nevertheless, the plan of God can never be thwarted by any failure and God’s timing is always the best. In 2008, God sent me to Kampala and gave me a job of a School Bursar with Church of God High School and at the same time to work as a pastor of Church of God of East Africa in Kasubi.
I managed to save UGX 1,500,000 that enabled me to enroll for a Bachelor’s Degree at Ndejje University in August 2009. In the same year, I also joined Pan African Christian University (PACU) Kampala Campus for a BA in Bible Theology.
Because it was it not easy to raise tuition for these two courses, while praying very early in the morning, crying to God for tuition and other functional fees, I heard the voice of God telling me to write to the President of Uganda Yoweri K. Museveni asking him to sponsor my course. It was very strange for me and I hesitated until on the third day when God spoke to me to stop doubting him and obey His voice.
I immediately wrote the letter I personally delivered to President’s office at Parliamentary buildings and after three months, I got a positive call from one Juliet Kaliisa that my application letter has been considered and that I should contact Welfare office department State House for further directive and the rest was history.
In 2012, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration as I was still pursuing my BA in Bible Theology. Thereafter, I also enrolled for MSc HRM at the same University and also got a scholarship for a doctorate degree of Philosophy in Theology from El-shaddai Step up University in TX USA which I did and graduated in 2016. All this increased my faith in Christ Jesus.
It was through my fervent prayer and patience that gave birth to a new Ministry called Divine Center Ministries International (DCMI) last year May, 2017 of which it has now 11 branches countrywide. This new Ministry has also increased my evangelism levels whereby the 11 branches must be reached once every month for two days, taking the ministers and other people into the study of the Bible in order to unfold the truth about the working word of God.
All Ministers in our branches have got a prayer calendar of bible study, prayer time and other church activities that are done routinely with myself being part of the process weekly and for me, I go an extra mile where I must be in fellowship while in Kampala every night.
